Add funds
Astrodyne is prepaid. You add funds to a balance, and each request settles a charge against it.
How the balance works
- The balance is held in US dollars.
- When a request starts, Astrodyne holds an estimated amount.
- When it finishes, the actual usage is charged and the remainder is returned.
- Every credit and charge is recorded individually as balance activity you can inspect.
Adding funds
Open Balance & Billing, choose an amount, and complete the payment. Funds appear on your balance once the payment is confirmed — not when you return from the payment page.
What happens if a request would exceed your balance
The request is refused before anything is sent, with
402 insufficient_funds. You are never charged for a request that
was refused, and a partial balance is never silently overdrawn.
Spending controls
Two independent limits protect you from a runaway loop: an optional monthly spending limit per API key, and your balance itself, which is a hard ceiling that cannot be exceeded. See Rate limits and spend limits.
Seeing what you spent
Usage and costs aggregates spend by period and by model. Requests shows the charge for one individual request. The two always agree — they read the same records.
